About us:

Erin Harris (nee Turner) started Sea Expression in 2021 with the goal of improving communication and inclusivity for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  As a native Deaf person, Erin knows and understands the challenges of navigating a world that is predominately set up for hearing people.

Deaf from birth, Erin has gained much experience from navigating life in a hearing world.  These experiences inform Erin’s work style and commitment to teaching Auslan and mentoring Deaf people to get the most out of their life.  Erin understands what is needed to break down the barriers to support better communication within the home, better outcomes within the education system, more inclusive and dynamic relationships within friendships and relationships within the community and employment opportunities that are enriched with opportunity.

Erin, not known for sitting still for long, has an extraordinary background to draw upon in her business.  This diverse background supports and informs the Deaf Culture workshops she enjoys delivering in workplaces and in the community. Further breaking down communication barriers and aiming for more inclusivity. Whilst not working, Erin loves healthy eating, and has recently added nutrition coaching to Sea Expression’s services, keeping fit and active, travelling, art and spending time with her husband and gorgeous dogs Abby and Loki. Erin is also an avid Coffee connoisseur and can be found enjoying a flat white anywhere good coffee is served.

At Sea Expression we acknowledge and respect the members of the Deaf Community in Australia – past, present and emerging, who preserve their rich heritage, culture and our language; Auslan (Australian Sign Language). We also acknowledge our custodians of Auslan, promoting awareness, equality and access through our sign language. Through Auslan, we inspire future leaders in our Deaf community to continue our legacy and heritage.

Sea Expression acknowledges the Butchulla (Badtjala) people as the traditional owners and custodians of the lands and waters of our beautiful region. We pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging.
